101 Addison Road was a gentleman’s residence, built in the Victorian Italianate design circ.1880. As one of Manly’s oldest homes it has a heritage listing with the local council.
Most of the original features of this gracious old home remain intact, including the
cedar doors and carved mantle pieces, the original baltic pine floorboards (now strewn with Afghan rugs and kelims) the cast iron lace of the verandah, the lofty ceilings and spacious rooms.
Manly is very much a part of early Sydney history, deriving it’s name from the
description of the local aboriginal men who dwelt here when Sydney was first
colonised. Always a favourite place to visit for locals and visitors from afar, Manly has retained a village atmosphere through all the many changes over the years.
Manly will always be “seven miles from Sydney and a thousand miles from care”.
